Liverpool won well enough once they got a move on against Manchester United, who set a cracker pace and could not live up to their own standard set. I think, with Longworth back in the team, Liverpool will do their part in doubling the Mersey events of tomorrow. United’s forwards are swift-moving, but Liverpool’s defence should hold them, and I question if the United defence is quite good enough to cope with the Liverpool forwards. Teams: –
Liverpool: Sergeant Kenneth Campbell, Ephraim Longworth, Billy Jenkinson, John Bamber, Walter Wadsworth, Donald Mackinlay, Robert Waine, Arthur Metcalf, Tommy Bennett, Harry Lewis, George Schofield.
Manchester United: Jack Mew, Marsden, Jack Silcock, Clarrie Hilditch, Kinsella, Williams, Tommy Meehan, Wilf Woodcock, Ellis, Hodgkinson, Southern.
