The ranks of the footballers are gradually being depleted, even though many of the men now joining up have been engaged on work of national importance. One of the latest to go is Arthur Sugden, Manchester City’s right full-back. He is now in the Royal Marines, and is stationed at Deal.
Much depends upon the military situation at the time the annual meeting of the League takes place, on July 15, but at present time the outlook for next season is a murky one.
