The annual report and financial statement of the Wednesday Football Club (Limited, Sheffield) for the year ending April 30th last shows a favourable balance of £530 10s. 10d. on the year’s working.
Over 20,000 soldiers and sailors in uniform were admitted free to the matches played at Hillsborough, a great majority being wounded men from the front.
The directors are unable to recommend the payment of a dividend. The total receipts at football matches amounted to £3,855 6s. 8d., of which £386 3s. 4d. was paid as percentage to visiting clubs and £844 16s. 1d. to the Government as Entertainment tax.
The directors have written off £1,220 19s. 10d. for depreciation, thus reducing the amount of accumulated profit in the balance-sheet to £3,609 5s. 6d.
The annual meeting has been fixed for June 28.
