Jack Hunter on leave

Saturday, July 18 – 1918
Jack Hunter – still a “mine host” in Preston – and himself will never forget him. A more dogged, hardy, relentless, copper-nobbed player of his inches never forced his way to the front in League football, and although some of his methods did not make him popular with opponents he was a fine servant to North End. He went into khaki early in the war and worked at his trade of a tailor, but for some time past he has been with the Army Service Corps in Italy, from where he is now over on leave.
