Much doubt existed as to whether Southport Central Football Club would continue next season, but Mr. E. Clayton, the secretary, inform a Lancashire Daily Post representative to-day that the club would run as usual, but under the name Southport Vulcan Football Club.
The Mayor of Southport, Councillor T. Hampson, has taken over the club, and a new committee has been formed, Mr. Clayton still acting as secretary. Practically all last season’s players are available, and a number of fresh ones have been secured.
