Will Preston North End just roll off the tongue quickly?

September 20, 1918
To-morrow’s matches are not as easy as they look. Preston, at Anfield – if rolled off the tongue quickly, is pretty easy, but if you will recall North End’s visit to Stockport, where they made a draw, and tack on North End’s visit to Anfield last season, it will be borne in on you that Liverpool have no walk-over.

North End, essentially a rugged side, have improved their team, although they have lost amateur Cyril Barlow. Billy Nesbit’s appearance is surprising, and Eddie Holdsworth’s appearance down the middle suggests that the team will be well driven.

Liverpool. – Billy Connell, Ephraim Longworth, Billy Jenkinson, John Bamber, Walter Wadsworth, Donald Mackinlay, Harold Wadsworth, Arthur Metcalf, Tommy Bennett, Harry Lewis, George Schofield.
