Tom Armstrong and Howard Baker guarding the sticks

March 12, 1920
Teams at Hillsborough.
Sheffield Wednesday: Teddy Davison, William Stapleton, Harry Bentley, Tom Brelsford, Joe Sykes, Jimmy Campbell, Alf Capper, Charles Binney, James Edmondson, Andrew Wilson, George Shelton.
Liverpool: Tom Armstrong, Ephraim Longworth, Donald Mackinlay, John Bamber, Walter Wadsworth, Tom Bromilow, John Miller, Dick Forshaw, Tom Miller, Harry Chambers, Albert Pearson.

Referee: Mr. J.T. Howcroft.

Unfortunately a hitch has occurred in connection with the playing of Howard Baker with Liverpool. Everything was arranged, but his papers that came through from Preston were Central League forms, and so it has been decided to play the Preston junior Armstrong, who was recommended by Jack Sheldon, with whom he was engaged in Army services, in the first side, Howard Baker helping the reserve side at Anfield against Nelson.

Sheldon is having a rest, and the reserve side will read:
Howard Baker, Jim Penman, Billy Jenkinson, Tommy Lucas, John McNab, Frank Checkland, Harold Wadsworth, John Martin, Dick Johnson, Harry Lewis and Arnold Dagnall.
