Football makes its bow to the public next Saturday in the form of trial games. Liverpool start the ball rolling at Anfield at 3.30 with a game Reds v Stripes. The Reds’ team will field the identical eleven that took part in that lengthy Lancashire Cup final against Manchester United last season, when 140 minutes’ play resulted in a draw of 1-1. The Stripes’ team included newcomers, so the football public can judge their worth for themselves. The prices of admission are 6d. 1s. and boys 4d., including tax.
Teams:
Reds: Elisha Scott, Tommy Lucas, Donald Mackinlay, William Lacey, Walter Wadsworth, Tom Bromilow, Jack Sheldon, Dick Forshaw, Tom Miller, Harry Chambers, Albert Pearson.
Stripes: Harry McNaughton, Jim Penman, Sam Speakman, John McNab, Billy Matthews, William Cunningham, John Miller, Peter McKinney, Dick Johnson, Harry Lewis, Harold Wadsworth.
