Walter Wadsworth’s long run ends


Saturday, September 17 – 1921
After running up a sequence of 63 consecutive League games without a miss, Walter Wadsworth, the Liverpool centre-half, had to stand down last Saturday owing to a leg injury, his place being taken by Ephraim Longworth, who not only showed that he was something more than a full back, but came near scoring against the Villa. But he isn’t a Wadsworth at centre-half. (Derby Daily Telegraph, 17-12-1921)
