The death of William James Morrow

January 22, 1922
The death has taken place at Ballyronan, County Derry, of Mr. William Joseph Morrow, one of the pioneers of association football in Ireland. He was captain of the Moyola Park club, the first team to win the Irish Cup, and he scored the goal which won that match against Cliftonville in 1881. He also played centre-forward for Ireland against England at Liverpool in 1883, and was one of the founders of the Irish Football Association

An enthusiastic cricketer and interested in sport of all kinds, he took a special interest in the Northern Coursing Club, and acted as an official at the Massereene Park meeting for many years.
