Liverpool will shortly announce the signing of a goalkeeper as understudy to Elisha Scott, who is the only custodian on the books of the club. Hopes had been held out that J.W. Brough, the Rugby international, would fill the breach, but since he joined the Leeds Rugby League Club Liverpool had had to look elsewhere.
We hear from a reliable source that the player in question is A.J. Riley, who kept goal for the South Africans when on tour last season, and who will shortly arrive in England. Riley, who is a native of the Transvaal, is in his 21st year, stands 6ft. 1½in., and weighs 12st. 8 lb.
