Season preview 1927-28: Clyde F.C. (The Athletic News)

August 1, 1927
Clyde had a stiff fight last season to avoid relegation. It was touch and go with the Shawfield club. Now they hope to make a better show and finish in a comfortable position.

Two outstanding juniors have been secured. J. McFarlane is a left half-back of distinct promise from Cambuslang Rangers, who played a wonderful game in the Scottish Junior Cup final, and senior clubs were after him at once. The same game put seniors on the track of Harry Borland, the craft inside right of Rutherglen Glencairn, and Clyde were he successful wooers.

The only departure is that of Thomas Malone, an outside right who is on transfer at £250. Dan Blair, who was with the Scottish party in Canada, has recovered from the bad injury he received last season, and his craft and coolness in defence will restore a balance to the rear line which was lacking during his absence. The playing staff numbers 15, including six forwards. The team for the opening fixture is likely to be: – Fraser, McGuire, Blair, Liddell, Gibson, Stirling, Young, Borland, Wallace, Hood, and Hasson.
