Crewe Alexandra are depending largely upon last season’s team. Of the four new men, three will figure in the forward line, which, however, still lacks a leader, Davie Brown having gone to Barrow. Last season’s weakness was in attack.
The newcomers are J. Craig, a young inside forward, who played regularly for Hartlepools; J. Boardman, from Doncaster; and B.V. Ralphe, an ex-Blackburn Rovers and Stoke winger, last season with Chesterfield. The other new man is G.H. Davies, who has played with Manchester United as full back.
So far, only 20 players have been signed for first and second teams, and in all probability amateurs will complete the teams.
In case the club cannot get a suitable centre-forward Cooper will fill the position.
