Season preview 1927-28: Falkirk F.C. (The Athletic News)

The playing prospects at Brockville are good. Falkirk made money last season, and have ambitions after a new ground. Another such season as last would bring their hopes sensibly nearer realisation, and there is no real fear that the “Bairns” will not be as good as last season, in spite of the transfer of Robert Thomson and Adam Allan.

Falkirk have the knack of picking up good young players, and one such is Gilroy, who has had First Division experience with Dundee United, and who, when at Tannadice was one of the most dashing and resolute young backs in the League. In. J. Kennedy, McIlwane, and Ritchie Falkirk will boast a sturdy half-back line, and their young forwards will be the better for their association last season with Gallagher, who stays on for another term.

The Hunter-Paterson wing would be a really good one if there was a little stronger running for goal, but R. Kennedy, in the centre, fills that requirement. His predecessor, J. Cox, returns to the game after a long absence through injury, and with good local lads coming on Falkirk seem as well equipped as any club outside “the big two.”
