It is believed by the management at Springfield Park that Wigan Borough will have a much better time than they have had for several seasons. The fact that a small profit was made last season, after losses had been incurred since the formation of the club, also justifies this feeling.
The Supporters’ Club, one of the most enthusiastic organisations of its kind in the country, continues to perform fine service. Its work has been largely he means of popularising the Association game in Wigan.
Probably the most important signing is that of W. Oxley the centre forward from Durham City. In 14 games for that club Oxley scored 14 goals. James Walker, of Exeter City, and previously of Plymouth Argyle, is an inside forward who secured three Scottish international caps as a junior. Another inside forward signed recently is C. Till brook, of Barrow, and formerly of Sheffield United. He scored both goals for the Furnacemen against the Borough in the English Cup-tie last season. Albert Edward Potter, a half-back, who has had three seasons with Exeter City, has also been signed.
