John McFarlane, Aberdeen’s reserve centre forward, has been transferred to Liverpool, and will turn out for the English First League team to-morrow.
An ex-Shawfield junior, McFarlane has been a prolific goal-scorer for Aberdeen since joining the club two years ago. Last season he had the mammoth total of 80 goals, and this season again bid fair to establish a huge aggregate.
Although such a tremendous success in the Pittodrie reserve team, he failed to hit it off when promoted to the first eleven, and consequently made few appearances in Scottish League matches.
Some time ago, at his own request, he was placed on the open-to-transfer list, and several clubs were attracted to him.
Liverpool representatives saw him secure the “hat trick” at Montrose, and lost no time in entering into negotiations.
