The goals: 0-1 McFarlane (33 min.), 1-1 Heap (pen, 63 min.), 2-1 Stage (65 min.), 3-1 Mantle (77 min.), 4-1 Heslop (83 min.).
McFarlane score for the visitors twelve minutes from the interval. Eighteen minutes after the resumption Heslop was brought down in the penalty area by Flanagan, and Heap scored from the spot. Two minutes later Stage put Burnley in front, and after 32 minutes’ play Locke was beaten by Mantle. Seven minutes from the end Heslop completed the scoring for Burnley.
