I am of those who believe that there is room for sentiment as well as business in football. Liverpool can give many other clubs points in this respect.
A season ago they appointed their well-known veteran full-back, Longworth, to the position of coach, and now they have pensioned off their old trainer, Connell, not by presenting him with a lump sum, but by paying him a weekly wage commensurate with his requirements.
