The Sports Management Committee of the Burnley Education authority are hoping that the match between the Lancashire and Yorkshire Schoolboys, at Turf Moor, on Saturday afternoon, will be supported. The game is an inter-county one for the “Tetley” Shield, and the kick-off is times for 3 p.m.
A thrilling struggle, with good football will be seen, and the team will play the full length and breadth of the field. The selected are: –
Lancashire: Pooke (Liverpool); Gledhill (Liverpool), Scragg (Manchester); Yates (Bolton), Lambert (Bootle), Eastwood (Manchester); Summers (Manchester), Jones (Liverpool), Kerr (St. Helen’s), Storey (Nelson), and Swarbrick (Burnley). Reserve: Fyles (Southport).
Yorkshire: Swindin (Rotherham); Hobden (Sheffield), Ovington (Doncaster); Coward (Sheffield), Warrenden (Sheffield), Ellis (Dearne Valley); Higginbottom (Sheffield), Newbold (Dewsbury), Sadler (York), Cocker (Rotherham), and Jepson (Leeds). Reserve: Fodd (York).
Referee: Mr. A.E. Fogg, Bolton. Lancashire linesman: Mr. H. Smith, of Burnley.
