** Moved from Staveley, Chesterfield (Derbyshire) to Wolverhampton with his family when 7 years old.
** Was charged on September 23, 1889, together with J.D. Tildesley, Josiah Tildesley, Albert Fletcher, David Wykes and Charles Booth (all footballers for Wolverhampton Wanderers) for assaulting a police officer in Wednesfield, near Wolverhampton on September 16, 1889.
** Retired in 1897 due to a knee injury.

Merits:
England A 2-0: (v. Ireland: March 13, 1886; v. Ireland: March 15, 1890).
FA Cup Winner: 1892-93 (Wolves).
