Injuries to blame for poor season

Saturday, May 10 – 1930
The season 1929-30 now closed, will go down in the Football History as one that riveted attention and refused answers till absolutely the last moment. We think even going back to the football records of some decades, no season has left sp much unknown, comparatively, so late. Events have interlocked, intertwined and interdependent to such an extent that even the last afternoon of the season could only bring formulas based on “ifs,” “buts” and “ands.”
Liverpool, from a results’ view point, have performed but moderately lately which indicated how far the levelling up process has gone this season. Merseyside, so concentrated in the doings of Everton, that the Anfielders have gone through their last six games almost unnoticed. They obtained only a solitary point and the position attained in the table is not so good as at one period seemed probable. But injuries have hit the team severely and caused several re-arrangements.
