Cyril Gilhespy, who scored a goal for Reading at Deepdale, perhaps felt inspired through meeting his old Ewood colleague at lunch in a Blackpool hotel prior to the match. A north-easterner, who has spent a considerable time in Liverpool and Bristol, Gilhespy has a peculiar accent which is not easily mistaken. He can also do a few tricks which provide indoor amusement.
