Football League meeting (June 27, 1931)

The management Committee of the Football League had a busy day at Southampton on Saturday dealing with matters affecting players.

It was reported that he registration of the following players has been cancelled by their clubs:
Tommy Jackson and Ben Olney (Aston Villa), Fred Leedham (West Bromwich Albion), George Parkin (West Ham United), Dave Whitelaw (Bristol City), Archie Gomm (Millwall), Harry Warren (Notts County), Jack Ranson (Swansea Town), Leslie Williams (Wolverhampton Wanderers), Arthur Purdy and William Tennant (Norwich City), Glenshaw and Jim Nicol (Southend United), Shuttleworth (Wigan), and Teddy Read (Wrexham).

The following players have had their transfer fees reduced by their clubs:
Jack Brown (Leicester City), Arthur Thomson (Manchester United), Horace Smith (Coventry City), Clarrie Bourton (Blackburn Rovers), Torris (Barnsley), George Harkus (Southampton), Charlie Wilson (Stoke City), and Watson (Rochdale).

Players taken off the retained list and now open to transfer:
John Hampton (Preston North End), Blackmore, Jack Clifford, Billy Bagley, Jimmy Gittins and Billy Thomas (Newport County), Francis Wallace (Darlington), Edward Cawley, Cyril Matthews, Newton, and Halliwell (Stockport County).

Free transfers were granted to:
Harvey (Blackpool), Bushell (Leicester City), Bell (Swansea Town), Bradshaw (Bournemouth and Boscombe United), Simpson (Norwich City), McCartney (Swindon Town), Hewett (Watford), and Price (Doncaster Rovers).

No action was taken in respect to the following players who applied for their fees to be reduced:
Chandler and Blair (Sheffield United), Stoddard (Southampton), Williams (Reading), Maycock (Gateshead), Wright (Hull City), Lynch (Rochdale), Twell (Southport), Albert Shears (Tranmere Rovers).

Accrued share of benefits were granted to:
Yorke and Dorrell (Aston Villa), Lauderdaley (Blackpool), Tait and Kean (Bolton Wanderers), Barclay (Derby County), Heineman (Manchester City), Hill and Chambers (Newcastle United), J. Whitehurst (Bradford City), Astley (Charlton Athletic), Hamilton (Preston North End), Easton (Swansea Town), Osborne (Tottenham Hotspur), Haley (Fulham), Whyte and Riley (Accrington Stanley), Weldon (Hull City), Tippett (Rochdale), and Lincoln (Stockport County).
