Sunday, August 23, is to be observed as Peace Sunday, and Sunderland’s rival M.P.s – Dr Marion Phillips and Mr. Luke Thompson – are to appear on the same platform at Ewesley Road. Mr. Thompson will be in the chair, while Dr Phillips is the speaker. Mr. James Jackson, captain of the Liverpool Football Club, is to address the meeting on August 30. He is entering college as a candidate for the Presbyterian ministry in October, and has had an immensely uplifting effect upon Liverpool sport. Mr. Jock McDougall is to take the chair.
