Liverpool F.C.’s new captain
Liverpool F.C. have made the following appointments: Chairman, Mr. Walter Henry Cartwright; vice-chairman, Mr. William John Harrop; captain, Ernest Blenkinsop; vice-captain, Jimmy McDougall.
The players report to Anfield on Monday, July 30. Trial games on Saturday, August 11, and Wednesday, August 15.
The appointment of Ernest Blenkinsop, vice Tom Bradshaw, is not surprising. Bradshaw must have found the new task a severe one last season, and while he played extraordinarily well away from home there were times when he did not succeed in home games.
Blenkinsop was captain of Sheffield Wednesday for many years, and has had a long spell of leadership with his country. While wishing Bradshaw well, the Anfield crowd will look upon Blenkinsop in the same high manner the Wednesday supporters used to look upon this leader and defender.
