Liverpool cash in £2,000 on Willie Steel

Friday, March 15 – 1935
It was only on Thursday that Birmingham received £2,000 from West Ham for centre-forward Dave Mangnall. The money is not to be banked. It will go into Liverpool coffers.

Still, ‘Brum shouldn’t regret their step. They are threatened with relegation, and are badly off for a back. Willie Steel could supply that need. The one-time St. Johnstone man, who went south in 1931, was a Liverpool regular before Tommy Cooper joined up from Derby County. He is pinned in the reserve side, and should add strength to his new club. He will play against Leicester City to-day.
