The death has taken place in Liverpool of Arthur Metcalf, the former Liverpool footballer, who played in their Cup final in 1914. A native of Sunderland. Metcalf also played for Liverpool as an inside forward during the war.

The death took place at Liverpool yesterday after a short illness of Mr. Arthur Metcalf, of Stanley Park Avenue, Anfield, Liverpool, the former Newcastle and Liverpool football player. Mr. Metcalf was a native of Sunderland and started his professional football career with North Shields. He was transferred to Newcastle United, with whom he played regularly for four years before going to Liverpool. After playing in the Liverpool First League team for several years he played for Swindon, Stockport, and Accrington before retiring 12 years ago.
Mr. Metcalf attended the Liverpool v Sunderland match last Saturday.
