Two Buckie Thistle players, George Calder (centre forward) and A. Smith (inside right) are going South at the beginning of next week to play a trial game for Liverpool against Preston North End on Wednesday. They have been recommended by George Brewster, the former Aberdeen half-back who does a bit of a scouting for Liverpool among the northern clubs.
A Thistle official will accompany the players to Anfield. Calder is Highland League top marksman with 36 goals in 19 games, and Buckie Thistle, who are in the running for the League championship and two cups, will miss their leader if he is fancied by Liverpool.
