June 30, 1937
Three well-known footballers attended the wedding of Miss Isabella Gillie Piggott, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Piggott, 30a James Street, Dundee, to Mr. Hector Forbes Campbell Will, youngest son of Mr. James Will, 25 Ogilvie Street, Dundee, in Kidds’ Rooms, Dundee yesterday.
They were Jock Thomson, of Everton and formerly of Dundee; Cliff Britton, the Everton internationalist; and Phil Taylor, of Liverpool F.C. All friends of the bridegroom, who is home on leave from Bengal, they are at present on holiday in Dundee district.
Mr. Piggott gave away his daughter, whose distinct Empire gown of pearl satin rose to a high cowl neck. The straight front was broken by an unusual belt of twisted piping, and the skirt swept out to form a square train.
From a bandeau headdress of orange blossom and tiny harrisii lilies cascaded the fine veil. Harrisii lilies composed her bouquet.
Her sisters, Misses Fay and Jessie Piggott, were bridesmaids. Their full-skirted dresses of net and taffeta were in peach and lavender respectively. Flaring basques and puff sleeves distinguished the casques. Halo head-dresses in gold matched their shoes and they carried bouquets of mixed sweet peas.
Mr. John Piggott, brother of the bride, was best man and Rev. W.T. Smellie conducted the service.
