Herman Van Den Berg transferred to Liverpool

Immediately on landing at Southampton yesterday from the Union Castle liner, Carnarvon Castle, from Capetown, Herman Van Den Berg, a 19-year-old ex-public schoolboy from South Africa was signed on as professional for Liverpool Football Club.
The Liverpool manager, Mr. George Kay, met the ship and received the player’s signature.
