Liverpool have changes for the match against Derby County at Anfield on Saturday. Owing to John Browning’s injury Tom Bush comes in at left half-back, and as Ted Harston will not be able to play for some time it is no surprise to find the capable John Shafto taking the centre-forward opening.
The team is: Arthur Riley, Jim Harley, Billy Hood, Matt Busby, Fred Rogers, Tom Bush, Berry Nieuwenhuys, Phil Taylor, John Shafto, Willie Fagan, Alf Hanson.
Bush has appeared in the first team before this season, but so far as I can remember this is the first time he has been tried at left half. Shafto’s re-appearance will please those who have hopes of him being an out of the ordinary player, and meantime Harston cannot be operated upon for cartilage until he has recovered from his sore throat.
Liverpool will still have a big following, despite their home lapses. These have been followed by away wins which have restored interest in Anfield events, and the Derby match will attract another fine attendance to see this uncommon Liverpool side which wins away and then loses at home.
