Orange peel on the pitch

Wednesday, March 2 – 1938
A policeman is to patrol in front of the boys’ en trance of the Liverpool Football Club during all first team home matches. This measure, decided upon by the Disciplinary Committee of the Football Association and made known yesterday, follows misconduct by spectators during the Liverpool v. Leeds United match on February 5. The youthful element, it is understood, threw orange peel on to the pitch. (Yorkshire Post, 03-03-1938)
