Alf Hanson transferred to Chelsea

Chelsea yesterday signed Alf Hanson, the Liverpool star outside left. The fee paid is a record for Liverpool.

Hanson was born at Bootle, and after trials with Everton signed as an amateur for Liverpool in 1931.

He turned professional that years and made his first team debut in the 1932-33 season.

He has played in more than 200 League and Cup games for Liverpool, and scored more than sixty goals. He is 5ft. 8in. tall and weighs 10st. 8½lb.

He’s regarded as one of the finest outside lefts in the country.
