Liverpool F.C. announce several sweeping changes in personnel. Mr. George Kay, the manager for the last three years, has had his contract renewed for a further period of three years. Matt Busby has been elected captain of the first team in succession to Tommy Cooper. The question of vice-captain has been deferred.
Albert Shelley has been appointed trainer to the first team, which for so many years has been in the hands of Charlie Wilson, formerly a player on the Anfield staff. He has been transferred to the ground staff.
Ephraim Longworth will continue to be the second team trainer, and Shelley’s place as coach to the third team will be taken by Jimmy Seddon, the former Bolton Wanderers’ centre half and captain, whose training of Southport F.C. in recent seasons has been so noteworthy.
