Jimmy McInnes’s goal

Tuesday, August 29 – 1939
The goal scored by McInnes, Liverpool’s Scottish left half, against Sheffield United on Saturday was the player’s second for the Anfield Club. Signing for Liverpool on March 15, 1938, the Scot registered his first goal for Liverpool the same month against Brentford.

Born at Ayr, he came to Anfield from Third Lanark and has now taken part in 46 League matches for the club. A keen tackler who shows excellent judgment when making his pass to a colleague, McInnes has filled Jimmy McDougall’s place with unbounded success, and if he maintains his present form he is likely to catch the Scottish selectors’ eye in the near future.
