Stan Hanson, of Bolton Wanderers, who is a native of Bootle, and brother of Alf Hanson, the former Liverpool winger, has been chosen to keep goal for the British Army eleven against the Football League side at Anfield on Saturday. Hansom comes in through Reg Allen, of Queens Park Rangers, being laid up with a broken ankle. Willie Cook, Everton’s Irish international, will also play for the Army in place of Bert Sproston. He comes in at right full back, so that the team now reads: –
British Army: Stan Hanson (Bolton Wanderers), Willie Cook (Everton), Ted Catlin (Sheffield Wednesday), Joe Mercer (Everton), Stan Cullis (Wolverhampton Wanderers), Wilf Copping (Leeds United), David Hamilton (Newcastle United), Dave Nelson (Arsenal) or Micky Fenton (Middlesbrough), Dennis Westcott (Wolverhampton Wanderers), Willie Fagan (Liverpool), Dennis Compton (Arsenal).
