The Liverpool goals:
* Liverpool replied in sensational manner and within two minutes took the lead. The ball reached Fagan, who bustled his way through to serve Liddell. The Liverpool winger sent in a perfect centre, which Hunt crashed into the top of the net, giving Breeden no chance. It was a great goal!
* It was not surprising when the home side went further ahead after ten minutes. Jackson beat back a Manchester attack and the ball went to Nieuwenhuys. Along with Hunt he worked a position to place Fagan in possession. Fagan drove in a hard, low shot which Breedon dived to and reached but it went over his head into the net.
