Will Harrop resigns as Liverpool F.C. chairman

Wednesday, July 9 – 1941
Mr. Will Harrop has resigned from the position of chairman of Liverpool Football Club. The directors meet tomorrow to elect his successor. Mr. Harrop has resigned because of pressure of private business and because of his election to the Management Committee of the Football League.

He has served the Reds magnificently as “commander-in-chief” for six seasons.

Once the Football League clubs decided to elect him to the Management Committee, Mr. Harrop appreciated that it would take a lot of time and work. So he makes provision for the extra work – work which I know he will handle expertly.

Mr. Harrop will, of course, continue on the Liverpool board.
