Five-a-side tournament idea turned down

August 16, 1941
The question of out-of-season matches other than practice games for charitable purposes is likely to be considered by the War Emergency Committee of the Football Association at Derby on Monday.

Application by Liverpool to carry on with their five-a-side tournament on August 23 in aid of the Lord Mayor of Liverpool’s War Fund, has been turned down, because, as the laws at present stand, the fixture is out of season. Liverpool will probably renew their application later.
