Liverpool hope to get away to a good start at Anfield, where Wrexham provide the opposition. The Welshmen have got together a really representative side, capable of extending the best. Famous names like Redfern, Milburn, Steen, Devlin and Christie are included among the “guest” players.
Liverpool will have experienced men in Nieuwenhuys, Fagan, Dorsett, and Hobson on duty, and grand youngsters like Liddell, Spicer, Done and Lambert strengthened by yet another year of experience. The Reds may be on the young side, but they are a well-equipped team with exceptional forward power. I think they will strike a winning note right away.
Liverpool: Alf Hobson, Charlie Fazackerley, Ray Lambert, Harry Kaye, Dennis Cooke, Eddie Spicer, Berry Nieuwenhuys, Willie Fagan, Cyril Done, Dick Dorsett, Billy Liddell.
Wrexham: Jones, Milburn, Kieran, Blunt, Cope, Pritty, Park, Morris, Devlin, Redfern, Alan Steen.
