First double of the season for Liverpool F.C.?

September 5, 1941
Liverpool have a fine opportunity of recording a “double” at their first attempt of the season. They go to The Racecourse tomorrow to face Wrexham, encouraged by the fact that they beat the Welshmen 5-2 at Anfield last Saturday and with the same team ready to do duty.

The visit of the Reds is a prime attraction for the opening of Wrexham’s home programme, and I do hope the public will give this enterprising management the encouragement they deserve. The club has got together an array of players who are outstanding personalities in the game, and it is up to the club followers to play their part.

Wrexham’s attackers will need to reveal more snap in finishing than at Anfield if they are to win, but my fancy is Liverpool.

Liverpool: Alf Hobson, Charlie Fazackerley, Ray Lambert, Harry Kaye, Dennis Cooke, Eddie Spicer, Billy Hall, Stan Palk, Cyril Done, Dick Dorsett, Billy Liddell.

Wrexham: Norman Jones, Walbanks, Cope, Arthur Tutin, Arthur Turner, Park, Rogers, Morris, W. Jones, Leo Stevens, Alan Steen.
