Postponed matches to be played

March 6, 1942
First play-offs of the 54 Football League War Cup Qualifying Competition matches which were postponed take place tomorrow. The games which were postponed from January 24 are of paramount importance to some Merseyside area clubs.

Everton and Liverpool are “safe and dry” among the 32 qualifiers for the competition proper, and Southport are, to all intents and purposes, safe.

There are doubts, however, about New Brighton, Chester and Wrexham. Tranmere Rovers can have little hope of qualifying.

Tomorrow Liverpool will be at home to Rochdale while Everton visit Molineux to face Wolverhampton Wanderers. New Brighton go to Ewood Park to face the leaders, Blackburn Rovers; Chester will be at Walsall; and Wrexham are at home to Bury.
