Anfield Charity match


June 4, 1942
For their match against the Army side at Anfield on Saturday, Liverpool are likely to include a number of players from other clubs. The proceeds are in aid of the Lord Mayor of Liverpool’s War Fund and the Army Welfare Fund. So far, the names available are: –

Liverpool (from): Alf Hobson, Roy Guttridge, Arthur Owen, Matt Busby, Bill Shankly, Fred Finney, Harry Kaye, Billy Liddell, Jack Balmer, Andy McLaren, Cyril Done, Fred Haycock, Jack Wharton.

Army: Dirk Kemp, Eric Westwood (Manchester City), Bernard Ramsden, Jack Easdale, Tom Bush, Jimmy McInnes, John Shafto, Phil Taylor, Reid (Bradford City), George Paterson, Bill Jones, Bill Kinghorn.
