Alf Hanson, the Chelsea international outside left, who was found by Liverpool and whose leg was injured when playing for Liverpool against Everton in May last year, returns to the competitive football field on Saturday. Alf says he is going to have a run with Liverpool.
Hanson has been playing baseball all summer, and his knee stood up to the test well. He is confident that he is ready to get back into soccer and that he can quickly regain prominence.
Alf played in the match last Friday between Grayson, Rollos and the Naval side at Prescot-road, when the Navy lads won 3-1.
The match brought in £30 for the fund for bombed children. A grand effort. Such was the success of the venture that they are to hold a return match – for the same cause – on Friday week, September 25 – possibly at Marine’s ground, Crosby. I’ll give you details later.
