Thursday, October 1 – 1942
Two Liverpool players have been chosen to play for Scotland against England at Wembley Stadium on Saturday, October 10. They are Matt Busby and Billy Liddell.
Neither selection comes as a surprise but Busby, who will captain the Scottish team, plays at left half instead of his usual position on the right.
Liddell thus receives his second “cap,” for he made his debut last year when he helped Scotland to defeat England at Hampden Park.
Scotland fields precisely the same forward line on Saturday which scored the four goals against England last year.
