Secretary-manager Mr. George Kay has thirteen names on his team sheet for the return Merseyside “Derby” with Everton due for Anfield on Saturday in connection with the War Cup Qualifying Competition..
Arthur Shepherd, the young professional who scored at Goodison Park, will not be available, as he has returned from leave. As a matter of fact, but for being granted an extension of his leave he would not have had the chance of making such a notable debut on Saturday. When Shepherd went to Goodison Park he had no idea he would be called on to play.
There is also a chance that Ray Lambert will be able to play again, but Fred Williams, of Southampton, is also brought back just in case. It is interesting to note that international Eric Keen, of Derby County, is again included among the half-backs. Keen is a real enthusiast and was at last Saturday’s game. He expects to be here this week, but final choice will not be made until the day of the match. Jack Westby, of Blackburn Rovers, is also available.
There are doubt about the attack, but Jack Balmer, the English international, is included, and there is always the possibility of others securing leave later.
Liverpool (from): Alf Hobson, Roy Guttridge, Ray Lambert, Fred Williams, Harry Kaye, Eric Keen, Jack Westby, Jack Pilling, Jack Balmer, Willie Fagan, Cyril Done, Fred Haycock, Michael Hulligan.
