Ray Lambert, Liverpool’s right back, Aubrey Powell, Leeds United, outside right, and George Murphy, Bradford City, inside right, are newcomers to the Wales XI selected against England for the charity international side which beat England at Wolverhampton last October, but lost the return at Wembley at the end of February.
Lambert, in the RAF, comes from Flint, and he joined Liverpool from junior football. Powell signed for Leeds in 1935, and after a period out of the game through injury, was making his name in the League side when war broke out. He has been playing very well for his club this season. Murphy played in the Newport and District League before joining Bradford City.
A. Powell is in the Army, Murphy in the RAF.
