The relatives of Cyril Tooze, the young Welsh full-back of Arsenal F.C., have learned that he has been killed in Italy while on service. Ted Platt, Arsenal goalkeeper, has written that Tooze was killed by a bullet from a German sniper. Platt is in hospital recovering from his experiences. Tooze, who lived at Swansea, was taken prisoner with Platt during the Tunisian campaign, but both were released when the Eight Army entered Tunis. He assisted Brighton and Heart of Midlothian early in the war.
