Liverpool name 12 players from whom will be selected their team to meet Tranmere Rovers at Anfield on Saturday. The best news is that which I gave you two days ago – that Jim Harley, the Scottish international, has recovered from the injury received in Belgium and will be at right back. This releases Jack Blood, who is included among the half-backs.
Otherwise the team will be unchanged from that which defeated Stockport last Saturday. Taylor will open at centre-forward, but no doubt the old “switch” with Don Welsh will be employed as and when occasion demands.
Liverpool (from): Alf Hobson, Jim Harley, Ron Gutteridge, Harry Kaye, Laurie Hughes, Jack Blood, Jack Pilling, Jack Campbell, Berry Nieuwenhuys, Phil Taylor, Don Welsh, Bill Kinghorn.
