March 1, 1945
Liverpool’s Mayor was first granted the right to use the title “Lord Mayor” in 1893. Royal Letters Patent gave him that title, and in commemoration of the change the first Lord Mayor, the Rt. Hon. Robert Durning Holt, presented a massive silver “loving cup” to the Corporation, and named it the Queen’s Cup.
